While our catalog does offer some unique compounds, quite often customers require access to materials that are simply not commercially available or only available in small research quantities in the primary market place. Under such circumstances these compounds can be made via custom order, utilizing our custom synthesis or contract research services.
Custom synthesis type of projects is carried out on a fixed fee basis, in which case the customers are charged based on the predetermined cost quoted by ChemALong upon the delivery of the material. The nature of such arrangements enables the customers to avoid certain financial risks since only the finished deliverables are invoiced. The obvious downside, however, is that the customers may not be guaranteed ready access to our services all the time since such projects are usually prioritized on a first come first serve basis.
On the other hand, when customers have such needs on a relative long term and continuous basis, some would opt for the contract research route. Under such arrangements, ChemALong provides non-disruptive chemistry supports over a period of time and the costs of the projects are structured on a time and material basis. Because the need to quote first and wait for approval is eliminated, projects can be initiated more quickly. More importantly, facilities and human resources are guaranteed during the term of the contract, which usually lasts considerably longer than the typical custom synthesis projects. In addition, the arrangement also brings significant flexibilities over the course of the projects, ensuring the customers to adjust the campaign targets relatively easily based on their own constantly evolving needs.
Since synthetic chemistry inherently involves uncertainties to various degrees, clear communication and effective collaboration are vital to the success of the projects. In the meantime, to guard the interests of our customers, project related non-public information exchanged between the sponsor and ChemALong remains strictly confidential, regardless of the financial structures of the campaigns.
